Grant Shand

Grant Shand

Principal

Grant Shand is a litigation lawyer with more than 20 years experience. Grant currently has the most cases of anyone in the High Court earthquake list. His other particular area of expertise is in leaky home/leaky building cases. He is recognised as an expert in the field and obtains excellent results for homewners or building parties in leaky home/leaky building claims in the Weathertight Homes Tribunal or in Courts.

Victoria brings a broad range of legal experience and expertise having worked in the legal industry since 2007, primarily in Litigation. Victoria also has experience in the property sector of Law (both residential & commercial).

Andrew Ferguson

Andrew Ferguson

Solicitor

Andrew has practiced litigation since 2000. Recently he has focused on construction and insurance disputes but has broad experience in all range of commercial litigation. Andrew practiced for 10 years in Melbourne and was an in house lawyer at Auckland Council before joining Grant Shand Barristers and Solicitors. Andrew is also a trained and experienced commercial mediator.

Paul Biddle

Paul graduated from the University of Waikato in 1999. Prior to working at Grant Shand, Paul worked for an Auckland boutique insurance litigation firm providing advice to both insurer and insured clients. Paul has extensive experience working with construction litigation claims acting for owners of “Leaky Homes”.

Paul has previously worked in the public sector and provided policy and operational advice for over 10 years on building and construction issues. Paul’s current practice primarily focuses on representing insureds in earthquake claim disputes.

Dana Beissel

Solicitor

Dana graduated with an LLB in 2014 and a MusB in 2015 from the University of Canterbury. She was admitted to the bar in July 2015. Dana joined the team at Grant Shand Barristers and Solicitors in February 2016 and is assisting with Christchurch Earthquake related insurance claims.

Emily Ferguson

Emily is currently completing the final year of her LLB at the University of Canterbury, and has spent the last two semesters on exchange at the University of Auckland. She will graduate in April 2017. Prior to joining the team at Grant Shand, Emily worked as a law clerk at a boutique commercial law firm in Auckland.

Aimee Mackey

Aimee graduated with an LLB(Hons)/BA from the University of Auckland in May 2017. She is currently undertaking her professional legal studies and will be admitted to the bar in November 2017.

Aimee worked at a large commercial law firm in the employment team prior to joining the team at Grant Shand.

Nina Lala

Nina graduated with a BA from the University of Auckland in May 2017 and an LLB from Auckland University of Technology in July 2017.

She will be admitted to the bar in August 2017. Prior to joining the team at Grant Shand, Nina worked at a boutique civil litigation firm in Auckland.
